Velvet Rabbit is more than a sober community — it’s a place to belong. We’re an Akron-based nonprofit creating inclusive social spaces for people in recovery and anyone exploring life without alcohol.

We believe recovery should feel like living, not missing out. Through community events, partnerships, and grassroots programs, we help people rediscover connection, build friendships, and find purpose — all in spaces where sobriety feels safe, supported, and celebrated..

Vision Board Night

Every month, we host Vision Board Night at Summit Recovery Hub— a creative space to dream big, set goals, and map out what you want your future to look like. We provide the supplies; you bring your story and your hopes for what’s next.

It’s not about perfect art — it’s about giving yourself permission to imagine a life that excites you and surrounding yourself with people who believe in your growth.

Sober Social Club

Our Sober Social Club is the heartbeat of Velvet Rabbit — monthly events where we gather to laugh, play, and connect. From board game nights and trivia to seasonal block parties, these events are designed to help you meet new people, build a support system, and have fun in recovery.

Whether it’s your first time coming out or you’ve been with us for years, you’ll always have a seat at the table.

The Alcohol Alternative Program

ALT is a community-led initiative by Velvet Rabbit that highlights bars and restaurants creating inclusive, sober-friendly spaces.

We believe people should be able to show up, socialize, and feel welcome — whether they drink alcohol or not. ALT recognizes local businesses that offer thoughtful non-alcoholic options and foster an environment where everyone belongs.

This program is built with the community. Locals help nominate and uplift the spots already doing it right, making Akron’s social scene more accessible, inclusive, and connected.
